Crowd Control Barriers at Train Stations

In Sydney, major train station expansions at Wynyard, Central, Barrangaroo and the Northwest Metro Line are typical examples of this fairly recent phenomenon.(See article by Carolyn Cummins.) Similarly, airports and hospitals (transit hubs with a captive market) are proving to be the new frontier for retailers.

ATDC has supplied its crowd control barriers to secure permanent and pop-up retail at Central Station and Wynyard as well as securing thousands of square metres of retail space at both Sydney and Melbourne International and Domestic Airports.

Ease of Use and Compliance with OH+S

ATDC’s crowd control barriers are safe and easy to operate, having been tested against the relevant OH+S legislation and NATA tested against the Australian Standards for Temporary Fencing and Hoarding. This includes dynamic impact testing and simulated climbing.

Amenities for Modern Businesses

These crowd control barriers are trackless, portable and flexible. Since they are modular, they can span unlimited width apertures (at any angle) without the need for any removable mullions.

Available in standard heights, they run on a series of heavy-duty non-marking thermoplastic bottom castors and have numerous wall-mounted and floor-fixed locking options.

ATDC is Trusted Worldwide

ATDC’s crowd control gates are now sold in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra, as well as in all regional towns across the country including Newcastle, Geelong, Townsville, and the Sunshine and Gold Coast regions.

NEW HEAVY DUTY SECURITY ROLLER SHUTTERS INSTALLED AT PRESTIGIOUS MORIAH COLLEGE

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has recently installed its latest heavy-duty roller shutters at the prestigious Moriah College, a leading private school in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. These heavy duty security roller shutters are large and can span a wide space.

ATDC’s Latest Installation at Moriah College

RS6 High Density Security Roller Shutters

These quality RS6 high-density roller shutters are complete with slimline overhead pelmet boxes and span six metres in one section without the need for unwieldy removable mullions.

Working closely with project managers Northcliff Construction Group, ATDC installed these heavy duty security roller shutters with their 77mm gauge heavy profile in a white powder-coated finish to blend in with the surrounding décor of the school premises. (A full powder-coat range is available to match the Dulux range.)

Advanced Features and Safety Precautions

Electrically operated with secure key switch operation, ATDC installed parachute safety brakes as an operational precaution given the large sizes of the shutters in a school location.

The shutters can also be remote-controlled for ease of convenience where this is a requirement by utilising high-tech satellite motors, satellite transmitters, and receivers. The shutters were installed with partly solid slats as well as some punched slats in order to achieve the necessary ventilation and free flow of air required for the application. Read on for further technical information.

Unique Advantages of the RS6 Shutters

ATDC’s RS6 High Density security shutter is the only security roller shutter on the Australian market with an enclosed pelmet box that can span such wide expanses in a single span. This is both an operational and cost-saving advantage for the customer. It also saves the customer from the cost of building in expensive bulkheads to conceal the otherwise unsightly open overhead roll. For further applications, read the article.

Nationwide Availability

These cutting-edge security roller shutters are now available for supply and installation in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra, Perth, as well as Newcastle, Geelong, Townsville, and all regional towns across the country.

COMPACT SECURITY GATES FOR REPCO PENRITH

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has recently installed its high grade S06 security gates to secure the shopfront at Repco Penrith.

S06 Security Gates Provide Security for Automotive Retail Store

Who are Repco?

Repco is one of Australasia’s 25 most recognized brands. With more than 400 stores in Australia and New Zealand and employing more than 2000 staff, Repco is Australia’s largest reseller and supplier in the automotive parts and accessories aftermarket.

The Project

Working closely with Repco’s specifying architects as well as shopfitter Storebuild Pty Ltd out of Melbourne, ATDC were tasked with the challenge of designing a security gate solution that was compact and space efficient when unlocked and opened for trade. This security gate had to fold back and occupy a side storage area which was only 6% of the opening span of the shopfront.

ATDC’s Security Solution for Repco

ATDC’s design engineers were able to offer up their innovative side-by-side parallel top track configuration which literally halved the normal stacking sizes of their security gates. Further, by designing the doors in a bi-parting double leaf arrangement ATDC was able to neatly resolve the limited storage space challenge. By utilising a series of intermediate up/down locking mechanisms which alleviated the need for any floor tracks, a seamless lock up solution was provided. The scissor doors installed by ATDC were the ideal security option.

Other Options from ATDC

In addition ATDC are also able to offer up their unique side-by-side configuration for curved and angled shopfronts as well straight-line applications and this provides customers with further innovative design options when considering maximising visual display of merchandise for their retail stores. The maximum curve/angle that is operationally achievable is a 90 degree turn through a 600mm radius curve. See our recent project for DFS Group to learn more.

Customisable Security Options

ATDC’s compact security gates are available in standard black satin and white pearl powdercoated finishes although any finish is available from the standard Australian Dulux powdercoat range.

Global Availability

ATDC’s security gates are now available for sale in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra as well as all regional towns across the country including Newcastle, Geelong, Townsville, the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. In addition, the gates are exported internationally throughout South East Asia, the Pacific Islands and The UAE.

PORTABLE EXPANDING BARRICADES FOR WOOLWORTHS METRO STORES

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has recently installed its portable expanding barricades to the Woolworths metro store at Armadale, an inner city suburb of Melbourne.(image attached)

This installation was a  prototype application to secure Woolworths’  liquor aisles with a portable expanding barricade that would deter  persons from being able to reach the bottles of alcohol through the barricade or alternatively if they were indeed able to reach through the barrier then to prevent them being able to pass bottles of alcohol through it.The results were successful and the barricade is serving its purpose as a powerful loss prevention tool reducing both theft and shrinkage. This is addition to its dual purpose function of ensuring that  the licensee is compliant with the prevailing state liquor licensing legislation.

ATDC ‘s S04-1 DD (Double Diamond) mesh portable expanding barricade was the product of choice for this interesting  Armadale application with its tightly interwoven mesh creating a narrow 65mm pitch between the metal cross linkages making it extremely  difficult to reach through the barrier. The black powdercoated barrier at Armadale is 2020mm high and has a seamless  floor mounted locking arrangement to secure the installation ie rather than attaching and locking  the barrier to the aisle structure itself-the floor mounted locking mechanism has  a surface mounted laser cut stainless steel floor plate to which the barrier engages at each end and locks.During trading hours the trackless, portable barricade is wheeled away on heavy duty non marking rubber bottom castors to back of house for storage completely out of sight. For further information on the double diamond mesh barricade visit www.trellisdoors.com.au/product/commercial-security/barriers-and-cafe-barriers/safety-barriers-s04-1dd

The double diamond mesh portable expanding barricade has been tested for safety under the latest OH+S legislation and it has also been tested by an independent NATA testing authority for compliance with numerous provisions of the Australian Standards for Temporary Fencing and Hoardings AS 4687-2007,namely for dynamic impact, simulated climbing and foothold aperture tests, having passed these tests successfully. The successful testing also confirms this steel fabricated product’s characteristics as being rigid, formidable and strong yet extremely easy to operate.

ATDC is already installing these  barricades  to other members of the Woolworths organization including both BWS and Dan Murphy’s liquor stores.See article at www.trellisdoors.com.au/bws-select-quality-portable-fencing

ATDC’s double diamond mesh barriers have the added advantage of being compliant under certain circumstances with the emergency exit provisions of the BCA-See article at www.trellisdoors.com.au/our-retractable-security-doors-comply-with-deemed-to-satisfy-provisions-of-the-bca

ATDC’s portable expanding barricades are now sold in Sydney,Melbourne,Brisbane,Perth,Adelaide and Canberra as well as in all regional centres across the country including Darwin,Townsville,Sunshine Coast,Gold Coast,Newcastle,Wollongong and Geelong. These barricades are now also being successfully exported to South East Asia,The Asia Pacific region,The Pacific Islands and the UAE.See www.trellisdoors.com.au/export/singapore

SPECTACULAR COMMERCIAL SECURITY SCREENS FOR KOORINGAL GOLF CLUB

The well reputed Kooringal Golf at Altona in Melbourne recently briefed The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) to design and install a 20 metre wide curved commercial security screen to divide a large function room at the golf club.

Function Room Division with Stylish Security Gates

The S08 Curved Commercial Security Screen

ATDC’s S08 curved commercial security screen was installed with architecturally designed special radius curves to suit this application.

Multiple keyed alike up/down keyturn locking mechanisms were fitted which lock a bolt up into the top track and down into the finished floor to achieve seamless lock up. These are keyed alike to the club’s master key system.

The absence of any floor tracking at all removed the potential risks of any trip hazards.

Read this recent article on ATDC’s curved door.

Curved to Suit All Spaces

The elegantly configured lines of this unique curved commercial security screen are ideal to secure curved radius applications including curved shopfronts and office showrooms, curved restaurants, museums and library facades.

The maximum height achievable is 4200mm from ceiling to finished floor. Note that the stock standard radius curve accommodates a 90 degree angle through a 600mm radius turn.

Figure 8 /S-bends are readily achievable where required. Parallel top tracking configurations are also possible for minimising storage size compaction, rendering this the most space efficient commercial security screen currently available on the Australian Market.

Find further information on ATDC’s S07-2 side-by-side stacking security screens online.

Professional Finishes

Whilst the finish of the security screen at Kooringal is in a professional high gloss pearl white powdercoat, ATDC’s alternate standard colour is black satin. Note however that the doors can be colour matched to any fitout environment by virtue of the fact that they can be matched to any finish in the Australian Dulux powdercoat range.

Trusted Security Available Globally

This premium grade commercial curved security screen is now available for sale in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra as well as in all regional areas across Australia including Townsville, Darwin, Hobart, Newcastle and Geelong.

BWS SELECT QUALITY PORTABLE FENCING

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) is proud to announce that it is the preferred supplier of portable crowd control fencing to the BWS liquor group nationally across Australia.

ATDC: Preferred Supplier of Portable Fencing for BWS

About BWS

BWS (or Beer, Wine & Spirits) is an Australian chain of liquor stores owned by Woolworth’s Endeavour Drinks, which also owns Dan Murphy’s, Cellarmasters and Pinnacle Liquor. It is Australia’s largest retailer of liquor with well over 1,400 stores across Australia.

Applications of ATDC Portable Fencing

ATDC is supplying and installing its portable fencing in differing applications – first and foremost as BWS shopfront door closures inside shopping centres, and secondly as store dividers within Woolworths supermarkets where it is being used to separate BWS stores from the supermarket area of Woolworths. The latter is often a requirement of the prescriptive liquor licencing laws, which vary from state to state.

Recent Project: BWS Chadstone

The above image shows a recent installation at a new BWS store at Chadstone in Victoria. The fencing systems installed at Chadstone are at a standard height of 2020mm (note that 2520mm is an alternate standard height) and are mobile and free-standing, requiring no headroom. Their width is unlimited due to their semi-modular design. They are manufactured from precision-engineered steel sections and have wall-mounted and floor-mounted locking options. They are compact and stable but easy to operate, running on a series of heavy-duty 75mm rubber non-marking bottom wheels. Discover more about ATDC’s mobile crowd control fencing.

Loss Prevention Applications

ATDC’s portable fencing systems are also being installed across the liquor display aisles in Woolworths Metro stores, where it is being used as a loss prevention tool to deter theft of alcohol. In these applications, ATDC’s double-diamond mesh portable fencing systems are being utilised. These systems have the door mesh very tightly interwoven so as to reduce the pitch between the cross-links, making it more difficult for would-be thieves to reach through these barriers to access the liquor on display. Learn more about ATDC’s double-diamond mesh barrier.

Wider Applications of Portable Fencing

ATDC’s precision-engineered portable fencing is also being used by many other blue-chip corporates across Australia, including Coles Supermarkets and Liquorland stores. See more in this article.

Other suitable applications for ATDC’s portable fencing include securing pop-up stores, kiosks and other temporary retail tenancies; access control for shopping centres and public buildings (e.g. railway stations, airports, ferry stations, bus terminals); Worksafe applications such as building sites; sports stadiums; public events; securing bonded warehouses, factories, and loading docks. BONDED WAREHOUSING DEMANDS EXPANDABLE FENCING

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has experienced a significant increase in demand for its cutting-edge expandable fencing, particularly for securing bonded warehouse facilities across Australia.

Rising Demand for ATDC’s Expandable Fencing in Bonded Warehouses

Understanding Bonded Warehouses

A bonded warehouse, or customs warehouse, is a highly secured facility closely monitored by Australian customs authorities. It serves as a storage space for dutiable imported goods that are awaiting re-export, release, or assessment and payment of duties and taxes. These goods can undergo various processes, such as cleaning, sorting, or repacking, as long as these processes do not equate to manufacturing. Businesses may re-export the goods without paying duty or withdraw them for local consumption upon paying the applicable duty.

One of the key benefits of using bonded warehouses is the flexibility they offer. Businesses can quickly move imported shipments from the wharf for short-term storage, unpacking, and deconsolidation. This avoids the high storage charges that would otherwise be incurred if shipments were left indefinitely at the arrival port or air terminal.

Security and ATDC’s Expandable Fencing

Security is paramount in bonded warehouses. The warehouse licence holder is responsible for the safe custody and accounting of the goods, under the supervision of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. Traditionally, these facilities have been secured with 24-hour security personnel, CCTV cameras, and strict inventory control systems. However, there has been a recent increase in demand for ATDC’s expandable fencing to enhance security further. This fencing allows bonded warehouses to secure loading dock entries and the perimeter of the facility while keeping other entry doors unlocked and open.

Features of ATDC’s Expandable Fencing

ATDC’s expandable fencing is trackless and highly adaptable, ensuring it does not interfere with the controlled movement of freight trucks or forklifts. The fencing is available in standard heights of either 2020mm or 2520mm and is made from high-tensile steel sections with multi-point locking options. The fencing operates on heavy-duty 75mm non-marking rubber wheels, making it easy to maneuver, and it complies with relevant OH&S legislation and Australian Standards for Temporary Fencing and Hoarding. Additionally, it meets the deeming provisions of the BCA for emergency egress, where required.

Purchase and Rental Options

ATDC’s expandable fencing is available for outright purchase or for hire on a short or long-term basis. The fencing is sold in major cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, and Canberra, as well as in regional areas including Newcastle, Geelong, Sunshine Coast, Darwin, Hobart, and Townsville. The product range is also exported to regions across South East Asia, the Asia Pacific, and the Pacific Islands.

SUPPLIES CONCERTINA DOORS TO DELACOMBE TOWN CENTRE

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) is pleased to announce its involvement (with concertina folding doors) in the new Delacombe Town Centre, a $60 million shopping centre development at the corner of Glenelg Highway and Cherry Flat Rd, Ballarat, only an hour and a half drive from the centre of Melbourne. Anchor tenants at the site include Woolworths and Kmart as well as 35 smaller specialty stores, as well as a 500 seat, 6 screen Showbiz cinema and medical centre.

ATDC Works With New Luxury Shopping Centre Development

Working With Major Brands

ATDC has supplied its premium grade concertina accordion doors to multiple tenancies at the centre including a Direct Chemist Outlet, Tatts Lotto, Just Cuts, Toyland, Smart Dollar, Che Modea and more.

As the nominated door contractor for the centre, ATDC worked closely with developer and construction company H.Troon in ensuring timely delivery under very tight deadlines of its concertina doors.

What Did We Supply for the Centre?

The concertina doors supplied by ATDC were primarily its 300mm wide panel FC1 model door. These are fabricated from heavy duty extruded aluminium sections with interlocking hinges suspended from a rigid top support track by industrial grade hangars. This allows the curtain to fold in a low friction action making it easy to operate and giving it a longer lasting lifespan.

See further information on ATDC’s concertina collapsible doors.

Note that ATDC also manufactures a slimline 150mm wide concertina door panel where required. For further information on ATDC’s slimline panel door see this article on the launch of the new Slimline Panel Accordion Door in Australia.

Why Choose Concertina Doors?

These concertina doors were all supplied with secure seamless up/down locking mechanisms, thus providing all tenants at Delacombe Town Centre with a speedy, efficient, user friendly lock up option without the need for cumbersome removable mullions. Numerous tenancies also had emergency egress locking options as specified under BCA, which provide an emergency breakout door solution where required.

All ATDC’s concertina folding doors at Delacombe Town Centre were supplied with a polycarbonate infill and some tenancies were supplied with doors completed in a natural anodised finish whilst others had a powdercoated finish applied. It should be noted that other infill options are available including perforated mesh or solid aluminium.

What Customisation Do We Offer?

ATDC’s concertina doors are customized to each particular project –the span is unlimited and the maximum height is 4500mm-curved apertures are not a problem as the doors can accommodate either a 90 degree curve over a 600mm radius (for the wide panel FC1) or even over a 405mm radius for the slimline panel option. S-bend configurations are also easily achieved where required as well as special curved radii.

EXPANDING BARRICADES FOR IKEA

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) is pleased to announce the installation of its expanding barricades for Ikea’s Richmond outlet in Melbourne.

ATDC Expanding Barricades Installed at Ikea Richmond

About Ikea
Ikea is a multinational group and is the world’s largest furniture retailer, with over 400 stores in 49 countries and a sales turnover in excess of 36 billion euros per annum. Ikea sells furniture, home accessories, and kitchen appliances. It was founded in Sweden but is headquartered in the Netherlands.

Barricade Installation Details
The expandable crowd control barriers installed at Ikea’s Richmond store are mobile and trackless and have been configured in the most space-efficient way to prevent access to the store by sealing off entry via the escalators in the shopping centre. The barricades are generally a very effective access control measure and are often utilised in shopping centres, public and government buildings, and entertainment venues for this reason. Being trackless and portable, the expanding barricades require no overhead support structure, making them very easy and cost-effective to install since no permanent overhead structural bulkheads are required.

Customisable Heights and Configurations
The barricades installed at Ikea Richmond are at a standard height of 2020mm. A standard height of 2520mm is also available, and non-standard heights are also available at a premium. The width of these expanding barricades is unlimited due to their unique semi-modular design. No matter how wide the span, ATDC always assembles the barricades in manageable sections which are easy and safe to operate. This is achieved by utilising intermediate locking mechanisms to separate the barrier into sections.

Durable and Secure

Fabricated from hardened precision-engineered steel sections and with numerous locking options available, these expanding barricades are formidable and secure yet are lightweight to operate, running on a series of heavy-duty 75mm bottom thermoplastic rubber non-marking castors. Both steel and aluminium expanding barricades are available depending on the application, with the latter more suitable for installation in a highly corrosive marine environment.

Safety Standards and Applications

OH+S tested for workplace safety and with a comprehensive and independent WHS Risk Assessment, ATDC’s expanding barricades are leaders in the temporary barrier field and are also independently tested for the rigorous dynamic impact and simulated climbing requirements under the Australian Standard AS 4687-2007 Temporary Fencing and Hoardings. Further testing has been successfully completed for emergency egress under the Building Code of Australia (BCA) in applications where this is required.

Applications and Availability

Ideal applications for ATDC’s expanding barricades are to achieve temporary lockup for pop-up stores, kiosks, and other temporary tenancies; access control for shopping centres and government and public buildings (such as railway stations and passenger terminals for instance at airports, ferry stations); Worksafe applications such as construction sites; events; entertainment venues; securing factory warehouses and loading docks. EXPANDABLE SAFETY BARRIERS SOLVE SECURITY ISSUE FOR WESTFIELD CENTRE

The Australian Trellis Door Companies (ATDC) xpanda mobile barriers have solved a previously  problematic security issue for Australia’s leading shopping centre group and potentially for all other shopping centres (and similar high-volume public entry points to buildings) across the nation.

The Client: Westfield Doncaster

Westfield Doncaster in Melbourne have recently successfully trialled the installation of ATDC’s safety retractable barriers within the airlocks at the entrance to its main entrance in an effort to deter further break-ins to its shopping centre.

Compliance with BCA

The expandable safety barriers installed at Doncaster comply with the BCA’s deemed to satisfy provisions in all relevant respects namely:

i) the barrier has a height not less than 1980mm;

ii) the barrier does not diminish the existing unobstructed egress width of exits and paths of travel to exits within the shopping centre;

iii) the barrier can slide open as well as swing open;

iv) numerous provisions relating to doorways serving as a  required exit or forming part of a required exit are not applicable since the barrier is instead a door in a path of travel to a required exit

v) it is readily openable without a key from the inside by a single downward action on a lever positioned approximately 1m from the floor; and

vi) the handle is of a type that the hand of a person who cannot grip won’t slip; and the handle has clearance from the back plate of between 35mm and 45mm

ATDC has received an independent certification of compliance. For further information on ATDC’s BCA compliance contact us.

ATDC Goes Above and Beyond to Mitigate Security Problems

Retail, Commercial & Industrial Security Fencing - Australia

A rise in the number of break and enters through the main entry doors into shopping centres in Australia has become a burning issue in recent times.

This problem is further complicated by the fact that shopping centre entry doors normally fall within the restrictive deemed to satisfy provisions of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and its emergency egress requirements.

Hence the difficulty of providing effective security screening does not fall foul of this quite onerous legislation.

Our Products

ATDC manufactures a wide range of crowd control barriers in both steel and aluminium depending on the particular application. These barriers are portable, trackless, lockable and free standing, and are available in either a white or black powder coated finish.

The barriers comply with existing OH+S legislation for workplace safety and in certain instances, they comply with the Australian Standards for Temporary Fencing and Hoarding including dynamic impact, foothold and simulated climbing tests.

Applications for Our Products

Suitable applications for ATDC’s expandable safety barriers include achieving temporary security for pop-up stores, kiosks and other temporary retail tenancies, access control for shopping centres and public buildings (such as railway stations and passenger terminals for instance at airports, ferry stations, bus terminals), Worksafe applications such as construction sites, sports stadiums, public events, entertainment venues, securing of warehouses and loading docks.
