Major shopping centre owners and their tenants are lifting their levels of security after a spate of robberies and ram raids across Australia.
Legal Claims Increasing
The centre owners are facing an increased number of legal claims from tenants whose outlets have been targeted after a break-in at the centre, while customers are also lifting the number of legal claims for compensation related to security and safety issues.
The NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research figures for the five years to September 2012 show that retail store theft rose by 2.8 per cent, including break-ins and ram raids.
ATDC Products Increasing in Popularity
One of the companies benefitting from the increased focus on security is Australia’s leading security door group, The Australian Trellis Door Co (ATDC™), whose clients include shopping centre owners Westfield, AMP, Lend Lease, Stocklands, Centro, Colonial Mutual, and Mirvac.
Jonathan Kaplan, ATDC Principal
Principal of ATDC, Mr Jonathan Kaplan, said “We have seen a strong increase in demand from both large and small shopping centre owners, who are keen to secure their premises and avoid legal actions from their tenants if break-ins occur.
“It is important that the owners protect the centres’ perimeters correctly to both protect their multi-million dollar investments and those of their tenants, many of whom are taking strong measures to secure their outlets,” he added.
Ideal Trellis Doors for Shopping Centres
ATDC’s new S06™ heavy duty trellis door is proving to be popular in the centres as it is a concertina style door that can expand across large entrances of up to 15 metres wide and 4 metres in height.
The door is custom designed to secure any door, window or passage opening, while allowing easy operation, security, build quality and flow of air and light, protecting staff at all times and preventing break-ins 24 hours a day.
The company’s Mobile Trackless Barrier is also proving to be popular in shopping centres, as it is a versatile, and completely collapsible trackless barrier door system, allowing access control, securing factory loading docks when the loading dock shutter is open, securing kiosks in shopping centres, securing malls and food-courts and walkways, operating on a series of steel trolleys and rubber castors, making it great for use for the erection of temporary enclosures.
ATDC is an Australian, family owned business led by brothers Jonathan and Richard Kaplan, which has been operating since 1985.
It currently supplies Australasia’s most diverse range of precision engineered expanding trellis security doors in steel and aluminium, which are suitable for securing most residential, commercial and industrial applications, and has remained the market leader in this field.
