ATDC’s increasingly popular S08 retractable curved steel security screen has recently been installed to secure the new General Learning Centre at Brisbane Central State School. Specified by Queensland-based Towill Design, this impressive installation highlights the versatility and robustness of the S08 model.

 

Meeting Unique Architectural Needs

The very large screen, measuring 14 metres wide by 3.7 metres high, was designed to traverse two different radius turns to conform with the curvature of the building. This ability to adapt to complex architectural requirements makes the S08 an ideal choice for modern educational facilities that often feature unique and innovative designs.

 

Top-Hung System with No Floor Track

The S08 retractable security screen is a top-hung door system with no floor track, ensuring an unobstructed pathway and reducing potential trip hazards. Instead, it is secured through a system of multiple intermediate up/down locking mechanisms along its span. This design provides seamless security without compromising the aesthetic or functional aspects of the space.

 

Project Management and Installation

Badge Constructions (QLD) managed the project, ensuring that the installation met all specifications and quality standards. What Security Did the School Require?

The school administrators selected ATDC’s polycarbonate infilled doors for a number of reasons including the fact they allow light to pass through the translucent materials and they also protect the school from the outside elements to a large degree. This is why ATDC created bespoke doors to fit the school’s requirements, giving them the ideal security solution to protect classrooms from the elements, from crime, and even from kids themselves who are up to no good!

An additional attraction is the ability to lock the closures in the open position through the use of its seamless up/down locking mechanisms and in this way prevent the students from moving the doors.

Other infill options for these sideway stacking accordion doors include a ventilated perforated mesh infill or even a solid aluminium sheeting infill. Powdercoated finishes are available in the Dulux Australia powdercoat range.
